Tools

Three tools that help you invest and trade with discipline. One works out what a company is worth. One keeps track of your option trades. One turns your broker statements into a full record of every trade.

One payment unlocks all three tools: the Option Tracker, the Intrinsic Calculator and the Options Trade Journal.

Trades & results

Option Tracker

A trading database for your option trades. Record each one, look back over them, and review them with consistency and discipline.

The Option Tracker gives you one place to log your option trades. You keep the key details of each and see how you are doing over time. It turns your separate trades into one clear history. You can review it, check it and learn from it, so your decisions rest on a method.

You record each trade: the contract details, the premium and what happened at the end. The premium is the money you receive for selling an option. The tracker then works out the summaries and the figures for you, so trends and results stand out.

Key aspects of the tracker include:

  • Every option trade logged the same way, with the same fields
  • Your results tracked over time, month by month
  • Summaries worked out for you, to help you review and check your decisions
  • Built for disciplined trading and for looking back over each trade afterwards

Use it together with the Intrinsic Calculator. The Option Tracker covers the trading and the results. The calculator covers what a company is worth. Together they give you both sides of the picture.

What a company is worth

Intrinsic Calculator

A tool that works out what a company is really worth, from its own figures. It helps you make careful, long-term investment decisions.

A company’s intrinsic value is what the business itself is worth, based on its results. It is not the price its shares happen to trade at today. The Intrinsic Calculator combines two well-known ways of working it out, inspired by Phil Town and Warren Buffett. It takes you through the inputs step by step and fetches the company’s figures for you. The result is one clear value to compare against.

You can then set today’s share price against that value. This shows you the margin of safety, which is how far the price sits below the value. It also shows the risk of paying too much, before you buy or while you hold.

Key aspects of the calculator include:

  • Phil Town style valuation, with the company’s growth worked out for you across several key figures
  • Warren Buffett style valuation, from owner earnings and discounted cash flow (the cash a business earns, valued in today’s money)
  • The company’s figures fetched from public financial sources, to cut out typing mistakes
  • Every assumption and every step of the working shown clearly, so you can check it

Built to work alongside the Option Tracker. The Intrinsic Calculator gives you a solid view of what a company is worth, beside the day-to-day trading.

Your full trade record

Options Trade Journal

Your complete options record in one place. Import your broker statements and the Journal builds the full picture for you. Every premium, every assignment, every share sale. It keeps everything up to date as you add new trades.

An assignment is when an option you sold ends with you buying or selling the shares. A put is an option to sell shares at a set price; a call is an option to buy them. A wheel is the cycle of selling puts, taking the shares, then selling calls on them.

Key aspects:

  • Import your monthly broker statements and every trade is read in for you
  • Profit from finished trades, option money received and charges paid, all added up for you
  • Wheels followed from the first put to the final share sale, showing which are still running and which are finished
  • Your shares and open options listed, so you always know what is still outstanding
  • A UK tax estimate for the year, worked out from your own recorded trades
  • Add trades by hand: sell a put, sell a call, buy shares or sell shares. The premium and charges are worked out as you type
  • Statement checks that flag anything missing or inconsistent in what was imported
  • Saved to your account, private to you
